What is Address Validation Letter?

Address Validation Letter is letter which is sent to the Address Verifier's address. The letter will contain a secret code sent for validation after the Address Verifier consents to the use of his/her address by the requesting resident.

After the request is submitted successfully the resident will get the Aadhaar Validation Letter within 180 days from the date of raising request.

In the absence of document proof, you can update your address(where you are presently residing) in your Aadhaar with the consent and authentication of the address verifier (a family member, relative, friends, landlord) who is willing to let you use their address as proof.

Request for Address Validation Letter

In the absence of document proof, you can update your address (where you are presently residing) in your Aadhaar with the consent and authentication of the address verifier (a family member, relative, friends, landlord) who is willing to let you use their address as proof.

Before proceeding to request for Address Validation Letter read the following:

  • The address will be validated by sending address validation letter containing a secret code, on the address of Address Verifier.

  • Resident and Address Verifier both are required to have their mobile registered / updated in Aadhaar. Both are required to be in sync and in agreement while the Request for Address Validation Letter is still in process.

  • In case the Address Verifier misses giving consent within stipulated time the request will be invalid. The Resident will be required to initiate the process again.

Who is an Address Verifier?

An Address Verifier can be a family member, relative, friends, landlord who is willing to let you use their address as proof. Address Verifier must have the same address registered in his/her Aadhaar.

Please note:

  • Both resident and Address Lender/Verifier are required to have their mobile numbers registered in their respective Aadhaar.

  • Both resident and Address Lender/Verifier will be required to get authenticated via OTP

  • The Address Lender/Verifier must be willing to give his/her consent allowing the Resident to use his/her address to be updated in resident's Aadhaar.

  • Both Resident & Verifier are required to be in synch while the Request for Address Validation Letter is still in process.

  • In case the Address Verifier misses giving consent within stipulated time the request will be invalid. The Resident will be required to initiate the process again.

Process details for Address update via Validation Letter

Step 1 : Resident Initiates Request

1. Resident Logs in with Aadhaar

2. Enters Verifier Aadhaar

3. Receives SRN

Step 2 : Address Verifier Consents

(Address Verifier Receives Link for consent in his/her mobile)

  • 1. Clicks on link

  • 2. Logs in with Aadhaar

  • 3. Gives consent

Step 3 : Resident Submits Request

Resident Receives confirmation of Verifier Consent on mobile)

  • 1. Logs in with SRN

  • 2. Previews Address

  • 3. Edits Local Language (if required)

  • 4. Submits Request

Step 4 : Use Secret Code to complete

  • 1. Resident receives the Letter and Secret Code via Post

  • 2. Logs into Online Address Update Portal

  • 3. Updates Address via Secret Code

  • 4. Reviews new address and submits final request

  • 5. URN received for checking status in future
