Honda Amaze bookings open, here's all you need to know

The major feature of the new Amaze is that it will be offered in four different powertrain variants.

Honda is gearing up to launch one of the most anticipated compact sedan, the Amaze in India next month. The Japanese carmaker had displayed the new Amaze at the 2018 Auto Expo held in February. Honda has also officially started taking in bookings for the Amaze and will be available in four variants - base E variant, S, V, and VX.

The major feature of the new Amaze is that it will be offered in four different powertrain variants. The Amaze will be available in a 1.2-litre, 90bhp petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre 100bhp diesel, both of which will get an option of a 5-speed manual, or a CVT AMT transmission. Point to note, the option of a diesel CVT variant will make the Amaze directly ahead of the competition considering only the Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the model to have a diesel-automatic combination.

The CVT auto will only be available on the mid-spec S and V trims and not on the top-spec VX variant. ARAI rated fuel efficiencies for the Amaze are as follows: 19.5kpl for the petrol-manual, 19.0kpl for the petrol-automatic, 27.8kpl for the diesel-manual and 23.8kpl for the diesel-automatic.

The Amaze borrows a lot of styling cues from its larger sibling, the City. unlike the outgoing model, the upcoming Amaze's rear styling is different and cleaner and does not look like a boot attached to a hatchback. The front fascia gets a new bigger single-slat grille, bigger headlights, new bumpers and bigger fog lamp housings. The rear gets new tail lamps and a new bumper.

On the inside, Honda has equipped the Amaze with a new Digipad 2.0, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets MirrorLink and WiFi connection to a synced phone for live navigation info.

Expect the price to be around Rs 5.7-8.5 lakh, considering the new Amaze will be priced a tad higher than its outgoing model.
