Ford India has started accepting bookings for the latest version of its compact sedan, the New Ford Aspire at its authorized dealerships across the country.

Customers can book a New Ford Aspire by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000 at a Ford dealership. The latest compact sedan from Ford is all set to be introduced on October 4.

The sedan from Ford has been spied testing quite a few times now, the facelifted Ford Aspire subcompact sedan gets updated styling alongside various new features. Ford is yet to make a confirmation on this, but there are a number of dealers who state that Ford may also bring in a CNG variant which will be used for the taxi market. Another reason for this is that a CNG test mule of the facelifted Figo hatchback was spotted testing a few months ago.

On the design front, the Aspire facelift shares a substantial number of design elements with the Freestyle Cross-hatch which was launched in April 2018, which in turn is an iteration of the international spec Ford Ka+.

2018 Aspire gets a new honeycomb radiator grille with chrome surrounds, restyled sweptback headlamps, and LED lamps but no DRLs. The car also gets a wider central air dam and redesigned round foglamps. The Figo Aspire also gets a set of updated alloy wheels and slightly tweaked rear lamps and bumper.

On the interior, the design has been updated keeping in mind the EcoSport and the Ford Freestyle interior. The Ford Aspire gets a black and beige dual tone upholstery. The Aspire also gets a dashtop 6.5-inch touchscreen display - similar to the Ford EcoSport and the Freestyle with Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. And now because there is a display screen, the number of buttons are lesser. The air con vents have been repositioned alongside an engine start/stop button. There is also an automatic shifter lever for automatic variants.

The Ford Aspire facelift is slated to be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol churning out 96bhp powerplant which can be found on the current gen Freestyle. There is also the existing 100bhp, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine on offer. Transmission duties will be done by a new 6-speed automatic torque converter or a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, Ford may not bring the diesel-automatic combo to the Indian market at launch.

Once launched, the Figo Aspire will face off against the recently launched Honda Amaze (Rs 5.81-9.11 lakh), segment leader Maruti Suzuki Dzire (Rs 5.60-9.45 lakh), Hyundai Xcent (Rs 5.61-8.61 lakh) and the VW Ameo (Rs 5.62-10.01 lakh). Ford is slated to price the Aspire a smidge higher than the current gen Aspire.
