Elon Musk Announces Tesla Model Y to be Unveiled on 14 March

Tesla will unveil its next car, the Model Y on 14 March, CEO Elon Musk announced on Twitter. The Model Y will be Tesla's fifth car.

The Model Y is said to be a crossover SUV and will share about 75 percent of its parts with the Model 3, Tesla's current cheapest model.

Elon Musk, on his Twitter said that the car will be about 10 percent bigger than the Model 3, hence, it will be 10 percent more expensive. He also hinted at a lesser range as it will use the same battery to power its motor as the Model 3.

There is not much known about the Model Y yet. The pricing will also be revealed on 14 March itself, Musk further tweeted. He also said that the first public Tesla Supercharger Station goes live from Wednesday, 6 March in the United States.

Tesla has been trying to move beyond its niche as a maker of luxury cars with a wider array of new products.
