New Delhi railway station revamped! Travelling from NDLS? You will be mesmerized to see its new look! Indian Railways in its station beautification and redevelopment initiative has successfully given a new makeover to the New Delhi railway station. One of the prominent railway stations in the national capital, the New Delhi railway station also known as NDLS has been beautified with several vibrant paintings across the station premises. With attractive designs and patterns, the station building has become more colourful than ever. The railway station now not only boasts a more beautified look but also has various passenger-friendly amenities and modern facilities such as LCD displays, escalators, LED lights etc. Recently, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that along with cleaner platforms, the railway station is now also giving passengers all the conveniences of energy generation from solar panels.
Several railway stations across the country have undergone massive renovation over the last few months. Some of the newly redeveloped railway stations include Jaipur Junction, Mathura Junction, Haridwar Junction, Lonavala station, Sainagar Shirdi station among others. These railway stations have been equipped with many modern features such as LED lighting, new benches, improved waiting halls, lounges, improved toilets, renovated parking areas etc. By the end of this fiscal year, the Railway Ministry eyes to revamp as many as 68 railway stations across India.
Recently, the ministry announced that soon, a total of 690 railway stations on Indian Railways’ network will boast “airport-standard” lighting. Interestingly, besides all this, the Railway Ministry is also turning two prominent railway stations, Habibganj station and Gandhi Nagar station into world-class stations. Additionally, the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC), which is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for developing and redeveloping stations of Indian Railways, is investing a whopping amount of Rs 7,500 crore for the redevelopment of as many as 50 railway stations across the country.
