Delhi Metro Phase 3: Big metro connectivity coming up in Delhi-NCR! The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has prepared a revised detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed corridor from Noida Electronic City station of the Blue Line to Mohan Nagar station of the Red Line. The DPR has been handed over to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA). In the upcoming corridor, Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shaktikhand, Vasundhara Sector-5, Sahibabad and Mohan Nagar metro stations have been planned. According to a Dainik Jagran report, the proposed corridor has been assessed to be constructed at cost of Rs 1786 crore. The corridor will be connected to the Delhi Metro Red Line at Mohan Nagar metro station. This will strengthen the connectivity for those commuting to Noida on a regular basis.
According to the report, the work on this corridor is expected to start by this year. It is expected to be completed by the year 2021. In the old DPR, the length of the corridor from Noida Electronic City to Sahibabad was fixed at 5.11 km and the proposed stations were Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shaktikhand, Vasundhara Sector-5 and Sahibabad. This plan was later changed. Instead of Sahibabad, the corridor has now been proposed to get connected to Mohan Nagar. Due to this change, the length of the corridor has increased to about six kilometers. In Delhi Metro Phase IV, the Vaishali metro corridor of the Blue Line will be extended till Sahibabad. The revised DPR for this corridor has also been prepared. The length of this corridor has been reduced to four kilometers and its construction has been estimated at Rs 1486 crore.
Vivekanand Singh, Chief Engineer, GDA was quoted saying that DMRC has submitted the revised DPR of new metro corridors of the third and fourth phase and the reports are being studied by the authority. According to the report, as many as 1.5 lakh people from Ghaziabad commute from NH-24 to reach Noida for work. This also includes the working professionals who come from Mohan Nagar to go to Noida sectors 62, 63, 61 and 58 metro stations. After the connection of the metro till Mohan Nagar, these people will be able to easily reach Noida by metro. Once constructed, this corridor will save time and money as traffic congestion on roads will be avoided.
