Covid Horror: 59-Year-Old Woman Patient On Oxygen Faces Rape Attempt By Ward Boy

·2-min read

If the Covid-19 related mismanagement were not enough to shock commoners, another horror has been reported from a private hospital in Gwalior as a ward boy has been arrested by police on charges of attempting rape on a Covid-19 positive woman, who was on oxygen support.

The incident took place at a private hospital under limits of Kampoo thana on late on Sunday evening. The victim's family alleged that the hospital management after their complaint did not take any action and instead assaulted them.

On family's complaint, Kampoo thana registered a case against Lotus hospital ward boy Vivek Lodhi (25) and arrested him after booking him under sections 376 and 354 of the IPC.

One of the family members of the victim accused police of delaying the FIR and also claimed the ward boy and hospital staff had assaulted them. "My niece's treatment also has been stopped by the hospital," said victim's brother in law demanding criminal case against the hospital owner.

The family, however, is demanding action on the hospital director Dr Prashant Agrawal for hushing up the matter after their complaint.

The family said that the woman is admitted to a private hospital after testing positive to Covid-19 and was on oxygen support as her oxygen level was 85%. The said ward boy molested the women admitted in hospital's Covid-19 centre on couple of occasions on Saturday.

He fled the scene when the woman opposed and raised an alarm and later called up her family, natives of Shivpuri.

The victim's son claimed that Lodhi and hospital staff assaulted him and his uncle when they asked the hospital administration to lodge police case while the administration was keen on letting Lodhi flee the spot.
