The two-wheeler segment in India has seen a massive growth in the past few years especially up to the 250cc segment. The 2016-2017 financial year saw a major change in the buying pattern. Consumers are now also looking at various scooters available market rather than motorcycles in India. The scooter segment has been topping the sales figures of the two-wheeler segment in India, with Honda Activa on top and dethroning Hero Splendor.
Majority of the sales seen in the past few years have been of scooters and motorcycles in the under Rs 1 lakh range. While market analysts say that the demand for two-wheelers is growing year-by-year, majorly in the rural area of India, we bring a list of two-wheelers that are worth buying in this price sensitive market.
Honda Navi (Rs 41,500)
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) had launched the 110 cc bike NAVI at the Auto Expo last year. The Navi feels very flickable to ride and on traffic infested streets it is damn good fun. The bike is powered by a 109.2cc, air cooled engine that churns out peak power at 7.83 bhp @ 7000 rpm and peak torque at 8.96 Nm @ 5500 rpm. It has an automatic transmission.
TVS Victor (Rs 51,715- Rs 53,715)
In April 2016, TVS Motor Company launched an all-new version of its executive segment bike TVS Victor. The newly launched TVS Victor features many design changes with the motorcycle picking up design cues from the TVS Apache RTR 180 and Star City motorcycles. The Victor is powered by a 110cc Ecothrust engine, which delivers 9.6 PS of power and 9.4 Nm. The Victor is capable of delivering a fuel economy of 76kmpl.
Bajaj Discover 125 (Rs 50,559- Rs 52,559)
Bajaj had launched the Discover 125 way back in 2014 and has been a major selling product for the Indian bike manufacturers. In total, three variants were launched, among which two have standard fairing and one comes with semi fairing. Discover 150S is available in drum and disc variants (standard fairing). Though it was meant to be a bike majorly suited to the commuter segment, 150cc will give customers the option to travel with greater power. The Discover 125 comes with a 144.8cc, DTS-i motor that churns out maximum power of 13.8 bhp and peak torque of 12.75 Nm, mated to a five-speed MT. It has a top speed of 110 kmph.
Bajaj V15 (Rs 62,002)
Bajaj had unveiled the Bajaj V15 in December 2015, while the launch and sales for the motorcycle started in March. The Bajaj V15 comes with a large fuel tank which contains the metal of the invincible INS Vikrant. The double cradle design offers outstanding rigidity and strength and the ergonomics enable the rider to ride the bike with a proud stance. Aprilia SR 150 (Rs 68,806- Rs 70,288)
Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, manufacturer of Vespa scooters, launched the 150cc-Aprilia SR 150 crossover bike last year in August. Since then, Aprilia has also added the Sport edition of the SR 150 with added power. Aprilia SR 150

While the SR 150 Race Edition comes with the 154.8 cc, 3-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing peak power at 10.4 bhp and peak torque of 11.4 Nm, mated to a CVT transmission. Slightly revised CVT ratios mean the Aprilia SR150 Race Edition is slightly quicker, which will also affect fuel efficiency marginally.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 (Rs 71,585)
Bajaj Auto had updated their entire Pulsar range this year with the new BS-IV engine and along with the AHO function. Hero Xtreme Sports (Rs 72,625- Rs 75,725)
The Xtreme Sports comes loaded with features such as the front cowl with aerodynamic visor, new wolf-eye headlamp with Twin LED Pilot Lamps gives the bike a stylish look. The new Xtreme Sports is powered by a 149.2cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder engine, producing a maximum power output of 15.6 BHP @8500 rpm and maximum torque of 13.5 Nm @ 7000 rpm and reaches from 0-60 km/h in 4.7seconds. The bike is available in five body colors - Panther Black, Fiery Red, Mercuric Silver and the new Black-Red and Pyro Orange colors.
Suzuki Gixxer (Rs 77,452- Rs 80,528)
Suzuki Motorcycle launched the popular Gixxer with BS-IV and AHO in new graphics this year. The Gixxer variants get new sporty graphics and the Gixxer logo across the tank. The new bikes also come with clear lens LED tail lamps which enhance user experience and appeal.Suzuki Gixxer

Honda CB Hornet 160R (Rs 80,603- Rs 86,084)

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 (Rs 96,453)

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V (Rs 92,615- Rs 97,615)
Winner of the Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) 2016, the Apache RTR 200 4V is TVS's most preferred product in the 200cc segment. The latest RTR 200 4V also complies with the BS-IV norms. TVS made some changes to the engine and the appearance of the motorcycle has been left untouched.
