BSNL Rs 186, Rs 187 plans revised: If you use Internet heavily, you might like these plans

BSNL has doubled up the data benefits on two of its affordable plans. The benefits regarding the calls and SMSes remain the same except for the data.

BSNL may be in a lot of financial trouble lately but the telecom operator is in one of its most aggressive states when it comes to pricing its recharge plans. The state-owned telecom operator has been coming up with aggressive new plans for its prepaid subscribers with either attractive price cuts or coupling lots of benefits. A few days ago, we learnt that BSNL revised some of its plans by offering double data benefits without changing the prices. In continuation of that, BSNL is now extending that offer to two more plans.

BSNL has revised two very similarly priced prepaid plans in its prepaid list, as noted by Telecom Talk. The first one is priced at Rs 186 and this one receives double data than before. Initially, this plan used to offer 1GB data per day for a period of 28 days. The plan also offered unlimited local and STD calls along with 100 free SMSes. However, this plan wasn't available for the Mumbai and Delhi circles. Now, after the revision, the updated plan offers 2GB data per day with an after-FUP speed of 40Kbps. Also, the plan is now open to all circles.

Similarly, the other prepaid plan costs Rs 187 and it also used to offer quite similar benefits. This plan also used to offer unlimited local and STD calls along with free 100SMSes as well as 1GB data per day. This plan was also barred from the Mumbai and Delhi circles. Now, after the revision, subscribers will get access to 2GB data per day and those in the metro cities of Delhi and Mumbai will be able to take advantage of this plan as well. The only feature that distinguishes this from the Rs 186 plan is the addition of complimentary PRBT (Personalized Ring Back Tones).

With these plans, BSNL is looking to appeal to the young subscribers who want data more than anything else. With 2GB data per day, BSNL already has an advantage over some of its rivals. Airtel, Jio and Vodafone having plans in this price range only offer 1GB data per day. However, it should be noted that BSNL still relies on the slower 3G network whereas the other operators are relying on 4G networks.
