BSNL launches Maximum plan at Rs 999, offers unlimited data, voice calling and SMS benefits

The BSNL's new Maximum prepaid plan is available in all circles except North-east India, Jammu and Kashmir and Assam. The new plan offers free and unlimited data along with free voice call benefits and SMs.

Joining the ongoing data and voice call war amidst telcos, BSNL has announced a new Maximum plan for its prepaid users. The plan costs Rs 999 and aims to take on Jio and other leading telcos like Airtel and Vodafone that offer free voice calls and unlimited data.

The BSNL's new Maximum prepaid plan is available in all circles except North-east India, Jammu and Kashmir and Assam. The new plan offers free and unlimited data along with free voice call benefits and SMs.

The plan comes with 365 days i.e. for 1 year. However, the tariffs change after first 181 days of recharge. BSNL offers unlimited free data with a 1GB limit for a day and after that speed will be reduced to 40kbps. All local, STD and roaming calls are free excluding Delhi and Mumbai. Voice calls in Mumbai and Delhi will cost 60p/min.

After 181 days, the tariffs change. All on-net and off-net calls will be charged for 60p/min including roaming. SMS will also be charged 25p/SMS for local and 35p/SMS for national.

BSNL with Maximum plan competes with Jio and Airtel's similar Rs 999 plan. Airtel offers unlimited local and STD calls including national roaming and free 100 SMS per day. The plan also offers 60 GB internet data for entire duration.

However the plan comes with a validity of 90 days which is less than BSNL.
The second competitor is Jio. Reliance Jio also has a Rs 999 plan for its users. The company offers 60GB data in total, unlimited free voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and complimentary subscription to Jio apps. But again the validity stands short to BSNL's . Jio too offers only 90 days of validity for its pack. The 360 days' plan from Jio costs Rs 4999. Under the Rs 4999 plan , Jio offers same benefits only with more data. Jio users get 350GB data in total with this plan. Airtel charges Rs 3,999 to offer unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 300GB data in total. Both Jio and Airtel plans are much pricier than BSNL. However, both Jio and Airtel offer 4G data while BSNL mostly offers 2G and in some places 3G.
