BJP files complaint against Congress leader for kill Modi statement
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday filed a police complaint against Congress leader Belur Gopalkrishna for making a comment on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assassination. BJP demanded NIA should probe the case and Gopalkrishna should be arrested.
The complaint was given to additional commissioner West BK Singh. Part of the complaint stated that "it's a clear incitement and attempt to commit a heinous offence of murder. Belur gopalkrishna has called for assassination of PM or India. The statement has gone viral."
This came at a time when PM Modi was in Karnataka on Wednesday addressing a rally in Kalburgi.
Gopalkrishna said he would fight the case legally. "I didn't say I will kill PM. I have respect for PM Modi. I only asked a question to Hindu mahasabha, that you shot Gandhiji, do you have the courage to do the same to Modi," said Belur Gopalkrishna.
Congress party has stayed away from Gopalkrishna's comment and said that they don't subscribe to his views. Home minister MB Patil said "I don't agree with what he said. I don't know the context though. One can't talk against a PM like that. He's our Prime Minister. The party doesn't support such statements."
