Mikel Arteta is unsure whether Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be available for Tuesday’s trip to Southampton.

The forward missed Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Saints, which Arsenal lost 1-0, due to personal reasons.

Aubameyang had been with the squad on the south coast but he had to leave on Saturday morning, with Arsenal explaining it was due to personal reasons.

Arsenal are next in action on Tuesday, when they face Southampton in the Premier League, but Arteta is unsure if Aubameyang will be back then.

“I don’t know. He needs to address that issue, we’ll see how it evolves,” he said.

“We’re here and we have to support him and he needs to take the time that is needed because that is a priority at the moment.”

Arsenal could, however, welcome back midfielder Dani Ceballos and defender Pablo Mari for the game, with the pair working to recover from calf issues.
