Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis has backed his skipper Aaron Finch to come good soon after a miserable form with the bat for the Australian opener continued. Finch finished with a struggling 14 ball 12 and his batting woes did not get any better. Chasing 220 to win, Australia needed their skipper to fire, but it didn’t turn out that way and eventually lost the game by 4 runs.

Marcus Stoinis and Daniel Sams had a great partnership in the middle and almost took the team over the line. The all-rounders smashed the youngster Kyle Jamieson for 56 runs in his four overs who was bought for 15 crores in the recently concluded IPL Auction. Finch has been out of form since the IPL 2020 playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and it continued into the Big Bash season too.

Stoinis Confident Of Finch’s Ability

Stoinis was confident that Finch will regain his form soon and reckoned that he will be a key player for the T20 World Cup. He added that Finch is one of the best T20 batsmen around the world for years now and believed in the abilities of his captain. With still three T20 internationals to go in the series against New Zealand, Finch could be in line for a big score soon.

“There’s just full confidence that he’s going to perform for us; I just see it as a long-term picture because come the World Cup, we need him firing. He’s arguably the best 20-20 batter in the world over a long period of time. His record so good. He’s our captain. In our heads, we just trust him,” Marcus Stoinis said.

“We’ve Got His Back” – Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis mentioned the way finch made an excellent comeback in the one-dayers with back-to-back hundreds after having a poor IPL and added that every player is accustomed to go through this form. Finch was released by the Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of the IPL auction 2021.

“The same thing happened when he came back from IPL (in 2020), he didn’t have the IPL he wanted, but he made hundred after hundred in the one-dayers. You got to ride out these sort of things … we’ve got his back,” the Australian all-rounder added.
