Apple 2018 iPhones may come with USB Type-C Lightning fast charger: Report
Apple iPhones coming in 2018 could come with one major update. A report from ChargerLab claims that Apple iPhones that are expected to launch in September will ship with an 18-watt USB Type-C Lightning fast charger. This will not only facilitate faster charging but also enable faster data transfer.
The report talks about a new, rounder and comparatively bigger charging adapter than the current mini 5W power adapter. The new adapter would connect to an iPhone with a Lightning to USB Type-C cable which will also be shipped in the box.
The new 18W charger is expected to charge the iPhone at twice as fast as the current 5W iPhone charger. The third big advantage of this move, apart from fast charging and data transfer is that user can also connect iPhones to Apple laptops.
Apple is planning to launch three new iPhone models this year. The company could launch a bigger version of iPhone X-- the iPhone X Plus along with a successor to iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, rumoured as iPhone 9 and iPhone 9 Plus. There are rumours of an iPhone SE2 also which could launch ahead of the September launch of iPhone X Plus and iPhone 9s.
Some reports also suggest that Apple may do away with Apple 9 or 9 Plus models and simply continue with the X name. But Mark Gurman in one of the recent reports has confirmed that Apple will launch three iPhone models this year and all the three of them will support FaceID. None of them will support TouchID. The iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen so it is rumoured that iPhone XI or iPhone X Plus will sport a bigger screen size of 6.5-inches.
Ming Chi-Kuo, the KGI security analyst, predicts that there will be two OLED iPhones in 2018. The third model will feature an LCD display. Apple moved to OLED display with iPhone X so it is very much expected that the company could continue with it in its future iPhones. Kuo also believes that all the three 2018 iPhones will do away with TouchID and instead support FaceID.
Coming to the most-talked about feature of iPhone X that has set a trend this year and almost every phone today comes with it- the notch. Reportedly, Apple may continue with the notch trend in 2018 iPhones. Only this time the size of the notch could be smaller than iPhone X's.
