Airtel offers new Rs 398 plan with more data and free calls for prepaid users

The latest recharge pack from Airtel offers slightly reduced validity but makes up for it with more data benefits. Subscribers can also enjoy free local as well as STD calls.

Airtel has been aggressively playing it in the telecom sector since Reliance Jio stormed in with revolutionary plans in the Indian telecom market. The company has been offering new plans with more benefits than it ever used to offer. Moreover, the company has been stressing on improving its 4G networks in the country and is expanding at a higher rate. As soon as Jio comes up with a new recharge pack, Airtel counters it with aggressive packs to keep its subscriber interested as well as draw in more from the rivals. Now, there's another new plan for prepaid users with more benefits than before.

Airtel has come up with a new plan priced at Rs 398. The new plan sits alongside the Rs 399 plan but differentiates itself widely with what it offers. There's more of everything with the Rs 398 plan, except for one parameter that might easily one of the most crucial ones for the target audience.

The Rs 398 plan offers more data than the older plan. Subscribers will get access to 105GB of data, which is divided into 1.5GB of3G/4G data per day. Apart from the data benefits, the Rs 398 plan offers free calls (local, STD and roaming) as well as up to 90 free SMSes per day. However, the Rs 398 plan is only valid for a period of 70 days, which is almost 2 months.

In comparison, the existing Rs 399 plan offers a validity of up to 84 days, which is more than what you get in the Rs 398 plan. However, the Rs 399 plan only offers 1GB data per day. Subscribers still get access to free voice calls as well as up to 100 SMSes per day. With both these plans, Airtel is offering two different plans for different kinds of users. If you prefer longer validity over data benefits, then you should choose the Rs 299. However, if you prefer more data and don't care much about the validity, then the newer Rs 398 plan makes sense.

In comparison, arch-rival Jio offers two plans in the vicinity of Airtel's Rs 398 pricing. There's a Rs 398 plan available for Jio subscribers that offers 2GB of data per day. As with all Jio plans, subscribers will get access to free voice and video calls, free SMSes and access to all Jio Apps. Jio offers validity for a period of 70 days. There's another cheaper pack at Rs 349 that comes with a validity of 70 days but offer 1.5GB data per day, free voice as well as video calls and free access to Jio Apps.
