Airtel offers 10GB data, unlimited calls for Rs 597: Know more about this new prepaid recharge
Airtel has been lately pushing multiple recharge plans with massive benefits in a bid to fend for itself against its highly competitive rivals. The additional benefits were introduced for postpaid subscribers before extending it to prepaid subscribers. If you have a smartphone and an Airtel subscription, you get immense value with these plans. However, not everyone uses a smartphone and with the rise of smart feature phones, consumers opting for these lose out a lot on benefits. Airtel has now fixed it for its feature phone subscribers.
Airtel has launched a new prepaid plan for feature phone users with a host of benefits. The plan is called 'Mera Naya Feature Phone' and is priced at Rs 597. Under this plan, subscribers will get unlimited local and STD calls for a period of 168 days. Along with the unlimited calls, subscribers will also be entitled to 10GB data for the same period. However, it is to be noted that the data benefit will not be applicable to 4G handsets.
Another important point to note with this plan is that you have to ensure that you avail this offer within a period of 30 days after buying the feature phone. Airtel will check the IMEI number of the device and its activation date for enabling the benefits. If the above criteria aren't met, then Airtel will reduce the benefits. Subscribers will be entitled to unlimited calls and messages along with 10GB data but with a validity of 140 days. This will be only applicable to Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, UP-east, UP-west, Gujarat, Maharashtra (not including Mumbai), Haryana and Madhya Pradesh circles.
For other circles, the plan will still offer 10GB data along with unlimited local and STD calls but the validity will be reduced to 112 days. Subscribers will continue to get 300 SMS per month that will be renewed automatically after a period of 28 days.
With this plan, Airtel is targeting smart feature phone users who want to use more data along with call benefits. This plan is directly in competition with a Jio's long term plans for the JioPhone. Jio offers a similar plan for Rs 594 for a period of 168 days. However, the data benefit is higher at 84GB instead of Airtel's 10GB data. Additionally, Jio offers access to its 4G VoLTE network with the JioPhone which also bundles free voice and video calls.
