The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may repeat its big faces in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. Party sources indicate that leaders who contested the Lok Sabha elections recently might be given another chance in the assembly polls due early next year.
It is being considered that the party might field Lok Sabha elections candidates in the state elections because many seats are lying vacant after the disqualification of MLAs. We have some very strong candidates for these vacant seats, said a party source.
Prominent faces in AAP who fought the Lok Sabha elections include Pankaj Gupta (Chandni Chowk), Atishi Marlena (East Delhi), Raghav Chadha (South Delhi) and Dilip Pandey (North East Delhi).
The Aam Aadmi Party suffered a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha polls and also lost on all the seven seats in Delhi.
AAP leadership is open to give tickets to its Lok Sabha candidates if they are willing to contest assembly election. However, no official confirmation has made by the party or the candidates yet.
The Aam Aadmi Party is looking for suitable candidates from Karawal Nagar, Bijwasan and Gandhi Nagar constituency whose MLAs Kapil Mishra, Anil Kumar Bajpai and Devender Sehrawat were disqualified by Delhi Vidhan Sabha recently.
The party is also looking for a replacement for Alka Lamba.
