AAP benefiting power discoms: Manoj Tiwari
From West Bengal to Delhi, the menace of cut-money allegations seems to have spread its roots everywhere. In a presser on Thursday, Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari attacked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with the cut money allegations.
Tiwari alleged that Kejriwal has looted the people of the Capital in the name of fixed electricity rate. Tiwari said that the state government has put an unnecessary burden on the citizens by hiking fixed charges and surcharge in power bills to benefit private discoms.
Tiwari claimed, Electricity bills used to be nominal before but in the name of fixed charges, the AAP government has collected `11,429 crore and gave it to the power discoms.
Notably, Tiwari said that during the President's rule in Delhi, the subsidy of `621 crore was reduced to `301 crore by the then finance minister Arun Jaitley.
Tiwari also alleged that before coming to power, Kejriwal had accused the then CM Sheila Dikshit of conniving with private power companies.
Before coming to power, Arvind Kejriwal had accused Sheila Dikshit of benefiting the power companies in the name of `600 crore subsidy and had also threatened to initiate a movement against it.
But the same Kejriwal, Tiwari alleged, increased the subsidy from `300 crore to `1,427 crore in 2015, right after forming the government. In 2016, the same subsidy was increased to `1,577 crore, `1,676 crore in 2017 and `1,699 crore in 2018, Tiwari claimed.
Essentially, Tiwari accused the Kejriwal-led government of looting Delhiites of `6,379 crore which was provided as subsidy, to the power distribution companies and not to the people of Delhi.
Tiwari also accused the Aam Aadmi Party of misappropriating a total of `13,929 crore as the fixed charge plus PPCA charge (`11,429 crore), surcharge (`2,500 crore) and subsidy (`6,379 crore) during its four and a half year-long tenure.
