5 Best Equity Mutual Funds That Gave Upto 40% Return In 1-Year

Indian equities over the last one year have performed quite well given a slew of measure such as rollback of surcharge on FPIs, corporate rate tax cut. And during this time if you had invested in some of the below listed equity mutual funds, you would have very easily made returns of up to 40%.

Here are some of the equity mutual funds that have managed to deliver up to 40% return in 1 year:

SBI Tax Advantage Fund III- Regular (Growth):

This is an equity linked savings scheme fund which over a period of one year has yielded superb return of 40.66%. The assets under management of the fund are to the tune of Rs. 22.62 crore and the fund charges an expense ratio of 2.7%. NAV of the growth plan is Rs. 30.42 as on February 13, 2020. Also, over the period of three year, the fund offered 17.20% return. This was a closed ended fund and new investments are not allowed in it. Some of the top holding of the fund include HDFC Bank, Hawkins Cooker, Bharti Airtel, JK Cement, SBI etc.

2. Axis Small Cap Fund-Reg(Growth):

It is a CRISIL 5-star rated fund from the small cap category with a fund size of Rs. 2084 crore. NAV of the fund as on February 13, 2020 is 35.28. Over the last year, the fund has given a whopping return of 37.44% against its benchmark Nifty Smallcap 100 TRI which just yielding 8.49% during the same time. Some of the top stock holdings of the fund include MAS Financial Services, City Union Bank, Galaxy Surfactants, Arti Industries, Chalet Hotels, NIIT Techologies etc.

On a SIP amount of monthly Rs. 10000 invested in the fund for 5 years, investors with an investment of Rs. 6 lakh would make profit to the tune of Rs. 2.91 lakh, taking the annualized return to 15.83%

For SIP investment into the fund one needs to start with minimum Rs. 1000 while through the lump sum route you would need Rs. 5000.

3. SBI Tax Advantage Fund-II(Growth):

It is again a closed ended fund in which investment can no longer be made. The ELSS fund has a size of Rs. 27.48 crore and levies an expense ratio of 2.7%. Some of the prominent holdings of the fund include the likes of Hawkins Cooker, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance etc

4. IIFL Focused Equity Fund-Regular (Growth):

This is again accorded with 5-star rating by CRISIL and is from the focused fund category. The fund's AUM size is Rs. 661crore. Top holdings of the fund include ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, L&T, Infosys, SRF Ltd., Bharti Airtel etc.

Minimum Rs. 1000 for the SIP amount and Rs. 5000 as lump sum is required.

Herein those investors should try lapping up this fund who have a deeper understanding of macro data and also intend to take selective bets other than regular equity funds for higher return.

In the SIP of Rs. 10000, invested 5 years hence, one would make Rs. 2.83 lakh profit over an investment amount of Rs. 6 lakh, taking annualized return to 15.46%.

5. Edelweiss Maiden Opp Fund-1-Regular(Growth):

A multi-cap fund has a fund size of Rs. 363 crore. Over a 1-year term, the fund has yielded magnificent return of 35.51% against its benchmark Nifty 500 TRI that just offered 14% return.

Some of the major constituents of the fund include HDFC Asset Management, HDFC Standard Life, AU Small Finance Bank, SBI Life Insurance, Avenue Supermarts among others. It is again a closed ended fund.
