4G speed in India: Navi Mumbai is fastest city, Allahabad slowest
Navi Mumbai has registered highest 4G speeds of 8.72 Mbps in OpenSignal's latest measurements which track average 4G download speeds among 20 of India's largest cities between December and February.
The second-spot is taken by Chennai that records 8.52 Mbps avenge 4G download speeds. Six out of the top ten cities were in the southern or western regions, with Chennai coming in second with average speeds of 8.52 Mbps, followed by Kolkata at 8.46 Mbps and Bangalore with 7.17 Mbps.
Out of the 20 cities that OpenSignal compared, Allahabad stands at the bottom of the list being the only city to register less than 4 Mbps with average speeds of just 3.5 Mbps.
Separately, OpenSignal also conducted a 4G availability test last year. According to the reports released in October 2017, Airtel topped the 3G and 4G charts while Jio leads in terms of 4G availability.
"As it did six months ago, Airtel took both our 4G speed and 3G speed awards. We measured average LTE downloads of 9.2 Mbps and 3G downloads of 3.6 Mbps on its networks. Despite its wins though, both metrics were down from our last report," the report said.
