28k AAP warriors to counter fake news
The AAP has trained thousands of volunteers as 'social media warriors' to counter 'rumours' and stem 'fake' news ahead of the May 12 general poll in Delhi.
The party's social media plan was formulated by its Delhi state coordinator Gopal Rai and AAP's social media team. Using Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp, these volunteers are keeping a tab on whatever is shared on these social media platforms, call out the content that they find fake and counter it with the facts.
A senior party leader said that 28,000 volunteers have been working with the WhatsApp team and separate groups were created for other social media platforms. Since 2014 LS polls, all the parties have been betting big on social media by keeping their 'warriors' ready for the virtual fight leading up to the battle of ballots.
The AAP said that it devised the strategy for effective results by the constitution of organisational structure for the social media warriors, from LS segments to the municipal wards. Each of the 7 LS constituencies, 14 districts and 70 Assembly seats of Delhi have 3 office bearers each.
