Volkswagen has showcased ID.3 -- its first fully electric production car of the new ID. family -- at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. Volkswagen ID.3 is based on the modular electric drive matrix developed by the carmaker.
Volkswagen ID.3 will be available with three battery options -- 45 kWh, 58 kWh and 77 kWh. The new ID.3 with 45 kWh battery will have a range of up to 330 km (WLTP) in a single charge. The range of 58 kWh battery pack will be 420 km (WLTP), while that of 77 kWh battery pack will be 550 km (WLTP).
According to the carmaker, the base price of Volkswagen ID.3 will be less than 30,000 euros. However, the vehicle is not available for sale yet.
In mid-May, Volkswagen started the pre-bookings for ID.3 1st edition -- an exclusive special edition limited to 30,000 vehicles -- and the deliveries have been scheduled to begin in mid-2020. Volkswagen ID.3 1st edition will be offered with the 58 kWh battery pack supplying energy to the 107 kW electric motor. Its top speed will be 160 kmph. The base price for this model will be less than 40,000 euros and include up to 2,000 kWh of electricity for one year following the day of the vehicle's initial registration. Both the prices are for the German market.
"The ID.3 is the world's first electric car with a CO2-neutral footprint. Consequently, it is making its mark: for innovative technology, for the freedom of individual mobility and for climate protection," Volkswagen Passenger Cars Brand Chief Operating Officer Ralf Brandstätter said.
