While the internet is brimming with information on making a quick buck, it is also a sea of scams that can deprive you of every penny you have in the name of remote work. So, how to filter genuine work from home opportunities?
Here are a few tips to help you spot and avoid work-from-home scams and earn a living.

Is It Too Good To Refuse?
Not every website is real, and scammers email or advertise offers that provide extravagant pay, alluring benefits, and a short work week.

Check for authenticity by researching the company website, its online presence, reviews, and testimonials. Preferably, inquire about their work, benefits, and job opportunity from one of their existing employees.

Avoid Giving Personal Information
Do not provide any critical personal information such as identity proof, and bank account details that can compromise your identity or cost you theft.

Shady Emails
Just like those fake telemarketer calls, it is easy to recognize an email scam. The most obvious signs are broken English, poor grammar, vague details, and sent from a Gmail or Yahoo account.

However, the key here is to check if it contains website link, logo, company letterhead, etc. as sometimes even legitimate workers can communicate via Gmail. (So, give a call to be sure?!)

Additionally, be careful if there are ZIP files or other attachments in the email. Scan them using antivirus software to avoid any potential malware or virus attack on your account or computer.

Asking For Money
Never pay for a job opportunity. The moment they ask for a ‘joining fee’ or any such monetary term, flag it as red! Authentic companies would never ask for money, rather they would offer you a salary!

Fake Internet Ads and Videos
