The investment seeks long-term capital growth. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in common stocks and convertibles securities of mid-cap and small-cap (from $500 million to $5 billion in market capitalization) and micro-cap (less than $500 million in market capitalization) companies. In selecting securities, management places emphasis on balance sheet quality, cash flows and various internal returns indicative of profitability, and the relationships that these factors have to the price of a given security.
