The investment seeks income exempt from federal income tax and New York State and New York City personal income taxes. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in New York municipal bonds. The portfolio's main investment strategy may include buying and selling derivatives (including options, futures and swaps) for hedging purposes or to enhance income and also purchasing tender option bonds. It may invest up to 20% of assets in non-investment grade bonds (high yield or junk bonds). The fund's weighted average maturity is normally more than ten years. It is nondiversified.
