The investment seeks total return. The fund normally invests a majority of its assets in common stocks of domestic companies without limitations to size or capitalization of the issuers. It may invest in either growth or value stocks. The fund may also invest in investment-grade debt securities, including U.S. government obligations and U.S. corporate debt securities, as well as preferred stocks, securities that are convertible into common stock and stocks that are not currently paying dividends, but which offer prospects for future income or capital appreciation in U.S. companies of any size or capitalization.
