The investment seeks a high level of interest income exempt from federal income tax and the Alternative Minimum Tax and, secondarily, total return. The fund normally invests at least 80% of net assets in securities that are insured as to the timely payment of interest and principal by independent insurance companies that are rated as investment grade by at least one nationally recognized statistical rating organization. It generally invests in long-term bonds with maturities of 15 years or more. The fund may invest in derivative securities to hedge against changes in interest rates or to enhance potential return.
