Reliance Power Limited, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the development, construction, and operation of power generation projects in India and internationally. The company owns a portfolio of approximately 35,000 megawatts of power generation capacity in operation and under development. It operates 1,540 megawatts of power generation assets, as well as has a portfolio of coal-based, gas-based, and hydroelectric power projects under development. The company intends to sell the power generated from its projects under a combination of long-term and short-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) to state-owned and private distribution companies, and industrial consumers. It is also developing a portfolio of power projects based on renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar. In addition, the company acquires, explores, and develops coal mines in India and Indonesia; and holds interests in four coal bed methane blocks, and one oil and gas block.
