Urban Outfitters Q1 EPS beats

The operator of Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Free People clothing stores, reported flat EPS at 23 cents, beating views by 3 cents. Sales rose 8.6% to $569 mil, but missed views of $579.3 mil. Same-store sales fell 1%. Urban Outfitters (URBN - News) has recently stressed full-price merchandise, moving from discounting in an effort to boost margins. After closing 2.2% higher at the end of the regular session, shares edged up late.
