New Delhi: Indian two-wheeler maker TVS Motor Co Ltd's sales fell 20.6% to 154,647 units in August from 194,898 units in the same month a year-ago.
It sold a total of 150,740 two-wheelers in the month, 20.7% less than the 190,184 units it sold in August 2011. Of the total, domestic two wheeler sales declined 17.2% to 135,513 units in the month as against 163,705 units in August a year ago.
TVS Motor's scooter sales dropped 26.9% to 38,193 units in August this year from 52,253 units in the same month in 2011. Motorcycle sales in August also fell 30.9% to 53,673 units as compared to 77,726 units in the same month last year.
Its three-wheeler sales fell 17.1% to 3,907 units in August 2012 as against 4,714 units it sold in August 2011.
Total exports of the company declined 40.2% to 17,934 units in August from 29,984 units in August 2011. It exported 15,227 units of two wheelers in the month, a de-growth of 42.5%.
Shares of TVS Motor were trading at Rs 36.85, down 5.87%, on the Bombay Stock Exchange at 12.03 pm today.
