Here are today's winners and losers.
Winners:
NVIDIA (NVDA) : Up 3.4 percent — Apple unveiled its newest MacBook Pro, which will include a graphics chip from NVIDIA, causing the stock's price to shoot up since the announcement.
Progress Energy (PGN) : Up 3.5 percent — Progress Energy announced that its purchase by Duke Energy is expected to close by July 1.
State Street (STT) : Up 2.8 percent — Goldman Sachs is selling its $200 billion hedge fund administration unit to State Street, which will make STT the largest hedge fund administrator in the world.
Losers:
Alpha Natural Resources (ANR) Down 4.9 percent — ANR announced that it plans to downsize its coal mining business in Kentucky following new regulations.
United States Steel (X) Down 4.9 percent — United States Steel is getting hurt by increasingly low steel prices, down near 5 percent on the day.
W.W. Grainger (GWW) Down 3.9 percent — Grainger saw same store sales increase 13 percent but cautioned that 5 percent of the increase was due to acquisitions.
