Tata Power Company reports 56% fall in Q4 net profit

Tata Power Company has reported a fall of 56.31% in its net profit at Rs 116.97 crore for the quarter ended March 31 as against Rs 267.71 crore in the corresponding period last year. However, the total income during the fourth quarter has increased by 28% to Rs 2367.81 crore from Rs 1849.91 crore in the year-ago period.

The company has reported a net loss of Rs 628.75 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2012 as against net profit of Rs 625.02 crore in the corresponding period last year. However, the consolidated total income during the fourth quarter has increased by 39.18% to Rs 7127.69 crore from Rs 5121.06 crore in the year-ago period.

For the full year 2011-12, the company’s net profit went up by 24.24% to Rs 1169.73 crore from Rs 941.49 crore in the previous fiscal. The total income from operations during FY12 rose by 27.89% to Rs 9479.30 crore from Rs 7412.06 crore in FY'11.

On the consolidated basis, the company’s full year net loss of Rs 1087.68 crore as compared to a net profit of Rs 2059.60 crore in the previous fiscal. However, the consolidated total income from operations during FY12 jumped 30.13% to Rs 25845.11 crore from Rs 19861.26 crore in FY'11.
