Microsoft announces October 26 as launch date for Windows 8

Washington, July 19 (ANI): Microsoft has announced that it will unveil its upcoming operating system - Windows 8 - on October 26.

"Mark your calendar: Windows 8 will be available on October 26th, 2012," the software giant tweeted.

The Los Angeles Times quoted Microsoft's Steven Sinofsky, president of Windows, as announcing the news at the company's annual sales meeting.

Earlier, the firm had confirmed Windows 8 would launch in October, but it had yet to give a solid date.

According to the paper, Windows 8 will work with touch-screen devices, mice, keyboard and styluses too.

In its blog post, the firm, however, did not mention Microsoft Surface tablet, which was supposed be to launch in conjunction with Windows 8. (ANI)
