New Delhi: India's insurance watchdog Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has unveiled an exclusive website for educating consumers on insurance products in a layman's language.
"The objective of having an exclusive website is to educate consumers about insurance in particular, regarding buying insurance, making a claim etc," IRDA Chairman J Hari Narayan said in a circular issued Monday.
The website -- www.policyholder.gov.in -- is part of the regulator's series of initiatives under its 'Bima Bemisaal' logo for creating awareness about insurance.
"The website is an attempt to reach out to all to give certain basic generic information on the subjects in order that consumers begin to think and seek answer to questions such as what they need to buy, whether they are being offered the right product," Narayan added.
The website, currently in English, will also be available in Hindi.
The regulator has sought feedback from general public on the website on or before May 21, 2012.
