New Delhi: Indian scheduled commercial banks' outstanding advances increased by 17.6% on-year to Rs 46.17 trillion as on April 20, 2012, as compared to Rs 39.25 trillion a year ago, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said Friday.
Of the total advances, food credit of the banks increased by 87.16% to Rs 816.4 billion as on April 20 from Rs 436.2 billion a year ago, the central bank said in its weekly statistical supplement.
The non-food credit of banks rose to Rs 45.36 trillion as on April 20, an increase of 16.85% on-year from Rs 38.81 trillion, it said.
The commercial banks' outstanding deposits touched Rs 60.32 trillion as on April 20, marking a rise of 13.3%, against Rs 53.23 trillion in the year-ago period.
