Idea Cellular's mobile subscriber base increases by 1.75 million in May

Idea Cellular, India's fourth-biggest cellular carrier has added 1.75 million mobile subscribers in May. Following the said addition, the company’s total subscriber count stood at 116 million.

Idea Cellular, an AV Birla group company, provides Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)-based wireless service at the pan-India level; it is present in all 22 telecom circles.

The company reported a fall of 25.77% in its net profit to Rs 189.98 crore for the quarter under review against Rs 255.92 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal. Total income increased by 26.02% at Rs 5294.62 crore during the quarter under review from Rs 4201.42 crore in the year-ago period.
