Delhi Metro has a Rs.15,000 crore debt

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has a debt of Rs.15,000 crore, DMRC Chief Mangu Singh said Tuesday here.

"The DMRC has a debt of Rs.15,000 crore which we hope to pay in around 20 years," Singh told reporters here at a press conference organiaed by the urban development ministry.

Singh assured the city on-time completion of phase III of the Delhi Metro.

The Delhi Metro, which covers about 190 km, makes over 2,400 trips per day, ferrying around 1.8 million passengers on working days. By 2016, it expects to complete Phase III, and add about 117 km and carry four million passengers daily.
