Bata Q2 net jumps 28 percent

Kolkata, July 26 (IANS) Bata India, the country's leading footwear retailer and manufacturer, Thursday reported a 28.45 percent jump in its standalone net profit for the quarter ended June 30, 2012, to Rs.52.65 crore from Rs.40.99 crore for the same period last year.

According to a release here, sales of the city-based company grew by about 18 percent during the period under review at Rs.510.85 crore as against Rs.434.51 crore the same period a year ago.

Announcing the results, Bata India Ltd group managing director Rajeev Gopalakrishnan said: "Our focus to expand the retail outlets and our constant endeavor to improve the merchandise with newer and better designs will continue.

"In fact such great response from our customers for the ever improving product range is very encouraging," he added.
