Apple buys fingerprint security firm AuthenTec for $350 mln

London, July 28 (ANI): US-based tech giant Apple has purchsed fingerprint sensor technology developer AuthenTec for about 350 million dollars, according to a report.

AuthenTec, which signed a deal with the iPhone maker's rival Samsung less than two weeks ago, said in its filing that Apple is paying eight dollars a share in the deal.

Under the agreement, Apple also has the right to pay patent licenses totaling as much as 115 dollars million, the Telegraph reports.

Apple can now shore up its biometric features, which help maintain security on devices.

According to the paper, the purchase is likely to further accelerate the trend for workers to bring their own devices to work, as iPhones and iPads should be able to make secure connections to corporate networks more easily. (ANI)
