PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Kroger Co. spent $85,000 in the third quarter to lobby the federal government on topics related to online sales taxes and pension laws, according to a disclosure report.
That's down from the $100,000 the nation's biggest grocery store operator.in the second quarter and up from the $70,000 it spent in the same quarter last year. Kroger, based in Cincinnati, owns chains across the country including Ralphs, Food 4 Less and Fred Meyer.
The company also lobbied Congress on funding for federal food assistance programs, the farm bill and other business matters during the July-September period, according to a report filed with the House clerk on Oct. 20.
