PHOENIX (AP) — Electronic components maker Avnet Inc. said Monday that it agreed to buy all or almost all the assets of Hartford Computer Group Inc. and its subsidiary Nexicore Services LLC, which provides consumer electronics repair and installation services in North America.
Nexicore filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection in Chicago on Monday and will seek court approval of its sale to Avnet, the company said. Nexicore's approximately 500 employees will be offered positions at Avnet.
The sale is expected to be completed in about four months or less.
Terms of the agreement were not immediately disclosed.
Shares of Avnet rose 9 cents to $30.20 after hours after ending regular trading down 59 cents at $30.11 before the deal was announced.
